Gravity-BP

Min 5 Years of experience | Full Time | Thrissur

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Structural Engineer with
proficiency in structural design, finite element analysis (FEA), and the evaluation of
load-bearing structures. The ideal candidate will hold an M-Tech in Structural
Engineering and possess at least 5 years of hands-on experience working in the oil and
gas industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and
ensuring the integrity of mechanical structures in various projects while ensuring
compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Structural Design & Analysis: Perform design, analysis, and validation of
mechanical structural components, including load-bearing structures, using
advanced engineering principles.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Utilize FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.)
to conduct stress, strain, and vibration analysis of mechanical structures,
ensuring optimal performance and safety under operational loads.
• Load Bearing Structures: Design and evaluate load-bearing structures such as
platforms, frames, and supports to ensure they meet the required strength,
stability, and fatigue resistance in the oil and gas sector.
• Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with other
engineering teams, project managers, and clients to provide technical support
and ensure seamless integration of structural designs with other engineering
disciplines.
• Material Selection and Specification: Recommend materials for structural

components, considering strength, weight, corrosion resistance, and cost-
effectiveness in harsh environments.

• Code Compliance: Ensure that all structural designs comply with relevant
international codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, API, AISC, etc.).
• Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of design calculations, drawings,
and models to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with industry best
practices.
• Risk Assessment: Identify potential structural failure modes and proactively
mitigate risks through design improvements and alternative solutions.
• Project Management: Assist in project planning, estimation, and coordination
of resources to meet deadlines and deliverables.

• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and
technical staff.

Requirements:

• Educational Qualifications: M-Tech in Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in structural engineering,
preferably within the oil and gas industry.
• Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in structural design and finite element analysis (FEA).
o Expertise in using FEA software such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar tools.
o In-depth understanding of load-bearing structures and the ability to
assess their performance.
o Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, AISC).
• Soft Skills:
o Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
o Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
o Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Certifications (Optional): Relevant certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer, PE,
etc.) are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience with offshore structures or heavy lifting equipment in the oil
and gas industry.
• Knowledge of software tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD
software.
• Familiarity with project management software tools.
